The Norwich Bulletin reports that a Dunkin’ Donuts franchise in town has donated $6,000 to the Colchester Volunteer Fire Company.

The Colchester Dunkin’ Donuts raised $3,000 of the donation by selling beverages at the recent Hebron Fair. Proceeds from the sale were donated to the fire company.

Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee George Veneziano matched the amount raised to make the total donation $6,000.

“Our local volunteer firefighters are the true unsung heroes of our community,” Veneziano said.

“It becomes a complete team effort to work with Dunkin’ Donuts to help raise the funds we need,” Chief Walter Cox said.

The donation will help fund local recruitment initiatives, training programs and life-saving equipment for the fire department.

This is the second year that the local franchise has donated to Colchester firefighters.

Veneziano and his son, Rob, recently presented the funds to the fire department.

“This program is one that we plan to continue as we move forward,” Cox said.
